Juddmonte have any number of Blushing Groom line mares, principally in Europe, through his son Rainbow Quest and it's been accepted knowledge for years he's one of the very best broodmare sires of recent times. Have a look at the Juddmonte Europe website to see exactly what I mean. When you add on that Juddmonte stand Empire Maker, a grandson of Fappiano,and potentially the next big sire, they may hold all the keys to the castle.

I am a unashamed Juddmonte devotee in case anyone needs to know. They are a real class act at all levels,

Mike M... congratulations. We also have repeated the Fappiano to Fappiano... watch for a 3yo Rubiyat named Shiver Me Timbers o/o a Ramplett (Fappiano) mare...to run at Presque Isle this year. Also, for a 2009 foal, we bred Full Of Class (a Good And Tough mare, with DiamondsAndRubies (Rubiano) as her dam.... lets keep fingers crossed. We have had a LOT of interest in Rubiyat this year. He spent 2 yrs siring Sport Horses in Va prior to our purchase.

I'm not a breeder but I always looked through the pedigrees of stakes winners and the Blushing Groom seemed a veritable river of black type so I've always followed them. Rahy became one of my favorites, meshing the Halo and Blushing Groom lines.

I remember being crushed when Candy Ride didn't make the Classic. I wondered how he'd fare as a stallion being from Argentina and having apparently small feet. Set against that was his ability to run on both dirt and grass and a magnificient temperament.

I can't remember being more excited about a group of young stallions than this year: Candy Ride, Medaglia d'Oro, Tapit, Speightstown, Sky Mesa and others. Then, perhaps Pulpit is emerging as a sire of sires and that great line lives on.

If she were younger I'd cross my Nijinsky mare with Harlan's Holiday. Ah, what mgiht have been!!

Sela99, I wish you the best on that mating. It's to bad that Rubiyat only breeds to a small number of mares because it seems he gets hard knocking runners that run well on any surface. Rubi Echo is a very professional big hearted horse.He won at first asking ,MSW, at 2 at Belmont.Was 2nd by a neck on the turf in a 100k turf race at Belmont. He basically never ran a bad race for me. Not bad for a 6K purchase.

MikeM, I have the same thoughts as you on Rubi Echo. this is why I am sending Hold The Rain to Rubiyat this spring, no inbreeding to Fappiano, but her second sir is Damascus and her second dam is Ride The Trails, dam of Cozzene. CROSS your fingers!!!

I've always been a fan of the Blusing Groom line and feel that it has been much overshadowed by Mr. Prospector and Northern Dancer. About time this line got it's due. Many overlooked Runaway Groom who on the bottom was free of Mr. Prospector/Raise a Native and Northern Dancer. With Runaway Groom gone we do have his successful son Cherokee Run who on the bottom is also free and now I look with much anticipation at his son War Pass whose broodmare sire is Mr. Prospector with the rest of his bottom line being free of Northern Dancer which this should be an excellent cross with those Northern Dancer line mares. Let's hope I'm right.

I've thought Candy Ride believers who brought their mares to him at his "give-a-way" stud fee were going to go on the "ride of their lives" and I know I' right...the only other horse I've ever had the same feeling about was Tiznow. I can't wait, (well yes I can wait, I want to see him run as a 4 year-old, too,) to see what Chocolate Candy will do in the breeding shed...his pedigree gives me "horse bumps".

Fox Tale Stud - I bought Rubiyat's best son (Rubi Echo) as a yearling.

He is inbred to Fappiano and always thought a similar breeding with Rubiyat would be worth repeating.

Candy's Ride's success so far is amazing, especially for a stallion bred in Argentina. There aren't too many good ones around, except for Forli and Lord at War. As a racehorse, Candy Ride shared similarities with them, which I wrote about recently at www.sidfernando.wordpress.com

Just wanted to point out that our stallion RUBIYAT is Fappiano/Blushing Groom with 21 Chef-de-Race sires in his pedigree and on another note, Rubiano, RUBIYAT's sire, is a 3/4 brother to Tap Your Heels dam of Tapit. Rubiyat is one of only 7 sons of Rubiano standing in the US.
