To raise Danehill and sons/Success Express from a "D" to an "A++" would take a remarkable run of new stakes winners. However, Fastnet Rock/Success Express may eventually break off as its own nick should there be more starters and/or stakes winners on that more specific cross.

The "D" TrueNicks rating for Sea Siren doesn't describe her own quality (which is of course very high), but rather the strike rate of the cross that she is bred on. Danehill and sons have just four stakes winners from 151 starters out of Success Express mares, and two of them--Excites and Tickets--are out of the same mare. So the overall rate of success is below average given the sire line and broodmare sire line involved, despite there still being some high quality stakes winners bred on the cross.

Finding stats to help determine Sea Siren's mating shouldn't be a problem. For example, there are quite a few broodmares with Danehill, Success Express, and/or Royal Academy in their pedigrees. These mares' collective produce records create the data in the Key Ancestors Report.

She is obviously an excellent racehorse, so something about her does not fit the Truenicks model very well. Is it more difficult to find an appropriate mating for her using Truenicks than for a mare of similar racing ability but rated Truenicks "A"?

Just a lovely looking filly. It's nice to get the reminder that there is some rhyme and reason to all this, as she has the look of so many other really top performers. Nice balance and athleticism, but that shoulder (scapula)-so many good ones share it.

With Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom also due to race there it gives it a good international ring. It brings back some good memories of other Kentucky Derby winners who ran at Royal Ascot like the 1928 winner Reigh Count who finished second in the 1929 Ascot Gold Cup to the 7 year old Invershin who was winning it for the second time. And in what was one of the greatest final furlongs in the long history of racing at Royal Ascot the 1935 Amercian Triple Crown winner Omaha just got beat by the filly Quaahed in the Gold Cup of 1936. When Sea Siren retires I would like to see her go to High Chaparral but I won't be disapointed if it is Pierro.
