The horse in Singapore, Summer Life, has won two races that are domestic grade ones for Singapore, but are only recognized as listed races by international cataloging standards, so they are not true grade ones. Smart DNA is a multiple grade one winner in Panama by local standards, but again these are not true grade ones when you go by international cataloging standards.

Unfortunately, there is a reason that Smarty Jones is now standing in PA at $7,500, having started in Kentucky at $100,000. He just did not do anywhere near as well as he should have done for the quality of mares that he was bred to. He might well turn out to be a useful sire regional sire at his current level, especially if given what he seems to need, more Raise a Native/Mr. Prospector and Seattle Slew.

He has 21 stakes winners, most of them graded, including 6 stakes winners this year. Each of the past two years his progeny have earned over $5 Million. In 2011 and 2012 he was ranked in the top 50 in the country.

Your statement that this is Smarty Jones first G1 winner is, however, inaccurate. He has already produced three other G1 Group-1 winners. "Better Life", an Australian born filly, has already won a G1 against the boys, and she is still running. There are also 2 other foreign based G1 winners that I can think of, including Smart DNA.
