And that her sire, Beau&amp;#39;s Eagle, was another Mabee Cal-bred. The damline was based in California for many generations, picking up crosses of local sires like Sisters Prince, Lights Up (a Travers winner by Eight Thirty) and Count Speed (a brother to Count Fleet). Regional US families have plenty to offer the breeder who is willing to look at racing merit and accept unfamiliar names in the pedigree. After all, Lady Shirl (Illinois) and Jameela (Maryland) were regional-breds.&lt;/p&gt;
