Still curious as to how Moonlit Evening is doing? We have a gelding by her, and would love to know if she is still being used as a broodmare, or is she is retired, or where she is?

Thank you for any information you may have-

Last year my husband and I purchased the saddest, skinniest, most heart broken gelding I have ever seen. I fell in love with him the first time I saw him at the horse rescue, and sponsored him until I could convince my husband that he was the horse for us. Now, he is filled out, proud, healthy and happy. His racing name is Closing Bell, the son of Moonlit Evening. We would love to learn more about his Mom, and how she is doing. If this website would allow, I would be happy to share pictures with you of our boy, and would love to see pictures of him Mom. We would love to have another horse some day, and would be very interested in a family member of Closing Bell's. In a very difficult economic year, he has been our greatest joy. Any info would be much appreciated- Thank you!

(5 winners from 6 foals of racing age) Moonlit Evening by His Majesty Dam Evening Belle.

She has a lot of what I refer to as old paper and I found some interesting Nicks. I have a Sun King colt from her who is "average size" fairly correct I was wondering if you might have any ideas for her, I have inquired regaring Henry The Navigator, FuPeg and Dynaformer, do you have any input regarding her next season?

Appreciate your kind remarks, and certainly wish you good fortune with the mare. I feel it's improper to offer stallion selection for readers' mares here. I did examine your mare's pedigree and found photos for both she and her dam. Your mare was unsound, and it appears that she has a rather straight shoulder (scapula) coupled with being rather heavy up front. Her dam (from the photo) appears to be back at the knee-I didn't notice this fault in your mare. I'd suggest you make effort to breed away from these traits. This, perhaps, should be your first priority. Again, best of luck.

She ran for 5,000 though she was capable for much more but we didnt want to risk injuring her due to her past injuries and her large size. She chipped the knee again and is now retiring. She showed tremendous heart, running through pain and showing speed especially for her size setting fractions of :22.1, :45.2, :58 flat and 1:05 flat for her 5.5f win, which she won by 14 lengths. I am going in on the breeding with a partner and need advice.....

thanks
