When I heard Jackson say he wanted to breed the perfect horse, AP Indy and Curlin both came to my mind. I believe AP Indy would be the better choice. I don't claim to know much about horse breeding, but what is all this "free of Norther Dancer and Mr. Prospector blood BS about. Incredible racehorses. Wake up people these horses are responsible for the base blood that all breeders wanted. What gives with this mindset?

Dalakhani is a proven stallion that would give the successful Mill Reef/Shirley Heights over Sadlers Wells cross. Also Sea The Stars is a promising stallion that would balance Rachel well (incidentally, their bloodlines also produced Galileo).

Big Brown does not belong on this list. He should have been gelded. His family is full of injuries and inbreeding. I think Street Cry would be a great match for Rachel.

Hey Whatever....I'm a Zenyatta fan and I've never bought the Jackson's story of not running Rachel in the Breeder's Cup because of the synthetic surface but believing it was more about not facing Zenyatta. I'm just ticked off that alot are saying that even if Zenyatta WINS on Saturday (which I have no doubt that she will) it may not be enough to beat Rachel out for Horse of The Year. Any thoughts?

@ Whatever: If her owner was afraid of losing, he wouldn't be bringing her back for another year. If he was afraid of losing, he wouldn't have brought Curlin back for a 4-year old season. This is ridiculous..Discussing possible matings for Rachel Alexandra, you should all be discussing Rachel's odds or chances of winning tomorrows Breeders Cup Classic. However, we all know why she's not running, because her owner is afraid of losing and that's exactly what would happen if Rachel ran in the Clssic or Ladies Classic, she would lose. Then again, she needs to stay in the barn, who wants to see a loser or a competition dodger.

Can't you just imagine how popular Curlin's and Rachel's foals will be? But this is more genetics and science than just people's favorites "getting together". True Nicks takes genetics into their estimates and calculations. And true! The best super horses don't always beget the best offspring. We shall see and hope. I, for one, can't wait for the inevitable - Curlin and Rachel getting together. I just hope Swanmate isn't right about foaling trouble for Rachel! Maybe we'll know more when Curlin's foals start arriving in January. Exciting times! Enjoy the Breeders Cup!!!

I agree with Skip Away. But why not Street Cry? He's about as fine of a horse as you can get and well proven internationally. I like the Nasrullah emphasis. But that said, what about Invasor?

I absolutely adore all the horses listed on this page, but at the same time I'd love to see what Rachel would do when crossed with Distorted Humor or Hard Spun. :) However, given her Dam's produce record, I worry that Rachel will have a hard time in the foaling barn.

The 'unsoundness' idea of Big Brown passing it along to his offspring is plain nonsense. Boundary, the sire of Big Brown, had foot issues the same as Big Brown but neither of Boundary's other top offspring had soundness issues like Minardi (2yo champion horse in Ireland and Great Britain) and Pomeroy (Grade 1 sprinter). Big Brown will pass his foot issues to some of his offspring but for the most part it shouldn't be much of an issue, Big Brown never had anything career threatening, just quarter cracks. Big Brown's pedigree has far more potenial then Curlin's does but we'll see after a few years.

I'd be concerned that Big Brown would pass on his unsoundness to his foals. His courage and powerful run are pluses.
