&lt;p&gt;I would definitely agree. If you look at something like the Aga Khan stud book, you will see some families that have been dormant, until something comes along that kick starts them.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The female line of Darshaan was pretty moderate close up when he came a long, although it&amp;#39;s re-ignited pretty quickly.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Another branch of the Prayer Bell family (descending from her dam, Sunday Evening) produced Medaglia d&amp;#39;Oro, whose granddam is inbred to Sunday Evening.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I think there is something in the thoroughbred dam side that shows up even after skipping a generation or two in most of the best runners of today. &amp;nbsp;The first generation is not always where the dam makes her mark.&lt;/p&gt;
