I agree that I wouldn't write Buddy's Saint off -- looked like his pilot decided to go for a hole that wasn't there -- Eskenderya has certainly taken over from him as Derby favorite. He ran the best route Beyer by any of the current 3yo I believe, and Buddy's Saint might be up against it if he has only one more start before the Derby.

Moving on to Ivory Star, Raffie's Majesty looks a very good cross here (TrueNicks A++). Cormorant likes Halo, probably to do with Recce in his female line.

Buddy's Saint was subject to a poor race riding decision by his jockey, followed up with a rough ride given to him by Eskendereya's stablemate.

No baton has been passed, a race was won by Eskendereya, and lost by Buddy's Saint do to racing luck.

As an outsider looking in, I like Buddy's Saint. I've witnessed his NY races. He has the breeding, (the will), and this loss can be a positive learning experience.

Kevin

Just an aside, (off the subject),

I have recommended to a friend to breed this year to Raffie's Majesty. His mare, Ivory Star, by Sweetsouthernsaint, Dam Celere (El Prado), has just foaled a Wheelaway filly on 02-19-10. Any comments on my recommendation? Thank you in advance for any feedback.
