Black Caviar running 03/22. No money but it'll be exciting to watch. I have to say, I like Australian racing a lot, the payouts are huge but you have to use the form for it, their program numbers don't match their post position and they have different conditions for the surface, dead, slow, good... really tough to handicap but if you get lucky, you're in the black for a few months... and that's for a $ .20 Superfecta...

Cigar is one of my all time fav. Yes, I pet him everytime I'm there,also many times getting my pic with him. He's still aware of his greatness,a very smart horse. Always bring him mints,I've been there for his last three birthdays. Everything about him seems much younger than his actual age.

Blog cred does not put any money in my pocket. And I don't have a paid group of followers that I'm trying to impress. Anyway, he's probably an obvious downgrade next out. He peaked all the way to the wire!

I'm a fan of horses, not handicappers. In general, turf horses never seem to get much media coverage. Wise Dan has clearly been an exception.

Not even a mention of this horse before or after his race. Try to focus on his last 3 races and then you might understand how good he is. I don't need respect from you or anyone else. I simply picked the horse and passed it along to others before the race. Even one of my closest friends would not listen to me. I hit the double, not the win payoff.

How should this 'respect' for Bright Thought be expressed?

Is it the horse that's not getting respect or is it a feeling that those that picked him on Saturday are not getting respect? It was his first Graded Stakes win and he returned a robust $7.40 in doing so. His two dirt wins were in a Mc25k at Lrl and a an Alw1x win at Penn in which he was DQ'd for a medication overage.

How much 'respect' did Hawkster get?

Maybe Treasury Bill did not ship well, who knows. He looked great on the track. I'm not impressed with any horse coming out of the race. Can you believe how poorly Delhomme raced and finished?

Were you able to pet Cigar? I remember back to 1997 in his stall at Greentree stable and he was very mean. A true biter, always aggressive.

The only issue with Bright Thought is that people still do not respect this horse. He just ran a mile in 1:33 3/5, 1 1/4 miles in 1:57 4/5, and 1 1/2 miles in 2:22 3/5! He must have peaked, right? Not to mention that he also has 2 wins on dirt.

Why do you continue to talk out of both sides of your mouth? Again, you stated that Oxbow's 94 beyer was not a strong prep. When a horse runs a beyer over 100 you say that they peaked or can't win next out. You make zero sense anymore. When I found out that you liked Treasury Bill I should have jumped off from him like the sinking Titanic.

Yes, Hawkster's record was set there as well; I do not know if the course has been altered since that time. This story is literally being reported everywhere tonight, and there is no issue at this time as far as I can tell.

At ~5:00 P.M. today the reports of the world record being declared for Bright Thought were beginning to be published. At the present time there are at least 11 (eleven) sources that can verify this quickly via an internet search. These sources include BloodHorse, DRF, Brisnet, Gainesway's site, Paulick Report, and the Associated Press to name a few. No need to link any since the BH home page has the story.

Karen / Pedigree Ann : Maybe I missed something, but according to the BH article, Hawkster's WR was set on the same course. Did the SA course change since then ? BH didn't say anything about that part so I'm curious what the issue is.

The partial downhill status of the track and questionable world record were well discussed/reported yesterday all over the internet after Bright Thought's race. I'm quite aware. Today the reports have been changed to reflect a difference in the official opinion. BH itself has posted the altered story. Maybe you should express your disbelief to the editors.

Guys, the turf course for 12 at Santa Anita is PARTIALLY DOWNHILL. In fact, the first 3f is downhill, then they cross the main track and run for 9f on the flat. Because the course is not flat, Bright Thought's time is a course record, but I doubt anybody will accept it as a world record. It had a gravity-assist.

Horses regularly run 6.5f down the hill in under 1:14, but the course record is not a world record for the distance.
