As you may know, Old Rosebud won the 1914 Kentucky Derby in a faster time (2:03.40) than this year’s edition (2:03.66), which is pretty remarkable considering how much slower

re: California Chrome's Derby-winning Style Fits Preakness

iceman, interesting that you find this to be a slow crop. Honestly I can't remember the last time I saw so many triple digit Beyers in the pre-Derby races.

I would like to know if you watched each of the races you have analyzed, because as far as I recall, Victor looked back to see if anyone was coming, and before he reached the finish line he stood up, which to anyone in the business would realize he used up time. However, Chrome and Victor raced in one of the most impressive and perfect race moves I have ever seen on Derby races. If he is not the favorite, as long as he stays healthy, then all the rest are possible winners. Not one of them stands out, nor did in the Derby.
