Brands , I decided that California Chrome was no longer worth betting. And it’s cost me, but more in terms of prestige than in my wallet. The $7 he paid winning the Derby

re: The Emotional Value of California Chrome

"So I didn’t bet California Chrome at 5-to-2 or 1-to-2, and I probably won’t be betting him at 2-to-5 in the Belmont Stakes, but I’m happy to congratulate those who did—not because of the money but because they were right."

I don't get this attitude of turning up your nose at a 5-2 horse.

Did anyone watch the race/replay? He may have been the best (at least 2nd best) horse last Saturday....The Filly, who should never have been in there, stopped right in front of GaR precisely when the real running started...he went from a couple lengths back, moving inside & with Cal Chrome to 10 lengths behind at the top of the turn...ran on amazingly to be beaten 1/2 a head for 3rd...Give Cal Chrome credit for repulsing the "relay" race they ran at him 3-4 times during the race, but if I were Maker/Wolfe i'd LOVE to try him again in a shorter field on the wider turns of The Big Sandy.
