The Hopeful Stakes fell apart when Munnings stumbled at the gate and Cribnote swung way wide on the final turn. Saratoga ended its 36-day meet with Alan Garcia the number one jockey and Kiaran McLaughlin top trainer.

All week long, NYRA officials and Saratoga fans looked forward to seeing Curlin race in the Woodward. In one sense, at least, the Horse of the Year got the job done.
