My apologies to Larry Clowers. I was given the name Lance Ingmire from the authorities at NYRA who planned the event and was unaware that re-enactors were switched.

As for reading my history, I didn't write anything about Grant's presidency. I merely reported the common findings of many opinion polls that rank Grant's presidency low.

Please take your issue up with the people who organize the polls, not with me. I think Grant was a swell guy, especially the faux Grant, whomever that was, at Saratoga.

General Grant in the photo is portrayed by Larry Clowers of Gettysburg, PA. and it was he who presented the trophy and not Lance Ingmire. Obviously the writer has not read his history as his comments on Grant's presidency show. The Civil Rights act of 1875 stating no discrimination on public conveyances suppression of the Ku Klux Klan, support of the 15th amendment, a humane policy to the American Indian are among his many achievements.
