I think Eoin Hardy and his connections have been pointing to this. With the Pacific Classic running the same weekend he could have easily stayed home and tried his hand at beating some older horses. If he is the "synthetic specialist," as everyone has painted him Del Mar would have been the more logical choice. This horse is ready to roll.

At the beginning of the year I really did believe that COLONEL JOHN was the #1 3 year old colt in the country. Obviously, I was wrong, and BIG BROWN is #1 (though not "one of the greats of all time" or any other such nonsense). I do think COLONEL JOHN will be ready to rock n' roll in the Travers and assume his position as the #2 3 year old in America.

Vic, just finished reading your new book, "The History and Art of 25 Travers". The combination of your writing and Gene Montgomery's posters make it a real gem. Keep up the great work and enjoy the race.
