Vic, thanks for all the entries. I wish I could have bumped into you during closing weekend. Had a great time this past weekend, it was just what I needed. The backside felt deserted though, it was kinda nice and quiet.

Poncho is quite the star now huh? Every time we walked by him to and from where we parked, there was a crowd around him.

Can't wait for next season!!

Actually Vic, any idea why Cribnote blew the turn so badly? Was it an equipment failure? If not like some are saying Cribnote is questionable as a two turn horse. I'm curious to know.

As far as a Derby horse, wow brave souls 8 months out on a colt that blew the turn, finished 2nd to a less than stellar group. alrighty then.

In this day and age, no track should charge "general admission" except on the very rare special event dates, such as the Triple Crown season and Breeders Cup, and quite frankly - even those exceptions are rather overpriced sometimes.

We should be inviting people into racing... not excluding them, or asking them to just pay a fee to come in the gates, only to ask them to spend more money while onsite.

Racing should be prudent in making it very well known that patrons are welcome and at "no charge" for just walking in the door.

I FINALLY made it to the track yesterday (we live in the same county -- how sad is THAT?!) and was there from race 6-11. It was a really exciting afternoon!! Yes, Cribnote blew wide on the turn (practically into the stands), but his rallying kick was astounding. If the Hopeful had been a little longer, I think he would've won....

My 8-year-old son made $30 in bets and now thinks he's going to earn his living playing the horses. :)

Looking fwd to next yr's season!

Vic- Thanks for the season-long chronicle. I grew up and went to college in upstate NY, but am currently exiled to the midwest as I finish up grad school. It was nice to have these vivid reminders of "the August place to be"- even though I could only be there on the first weekend!

Another great season. Enjoyed keeping up on happennings from Vic. Hope to attend some races next year.
