A horseperson looks at how that fence is contructed and sees a trap for a horse. The acute angles from the cross rails can trap an errant leg in a heartbeat.

I used to go to Saratoga every summer during the 50's and 70's. I saw Buckpasser under a tree about three feet away from me and later I saw Dr Fager up close and personal. I wouldn't even want to go there now.

They have removed what was really special about the track.
