I love the steeplechase races, whether at Saratoga or in Ireland, and find it amusing that gamblers who don't hesitate to try to pick 6 winners in a row and pick 3 deep on their exotics have trouble understanding steeplechasing (or hurdling, as the race may be) and therefore feel it's too risky! Study the form, take a flyer for $2 and have some fun for goodness sakes.

I was unhappy that Skip Away's son didn't do well yesterday, but it was still lovely to see him.

Racing over the jumps is beautiful, exciting and different, and kudos to Saratoga for continuing these races where, as the commercials say, "thoroughbreds fly"!
