Lots of bumping and bouncing around in Pyro's race. Too bad he had to dive inside. The fact he was 4-1 says lots even of the layoff. I think they got what they expected and it should set him up fine for his next.

da3hoss, yeap, it looked like he thought he was finished with his job. If he'd kept going like he had been, he'd have won it. I'll cut him some slack since it's his first race in a while. Colonel John is supposed to have his first try on turf this weekend. He doesn't really strike me as a turf horse. What do you think?

i was hoping you would be publishing your saratoga diary again this summer! my family and i traveled there from indiana last year for travers weekend and that is the most magical racetrack in the world. an experience i will never forget as long as i live. thanks for making it almost as good as being there!

So glad I popped in..12 minutes to the 3rd at Saratoga! Go Silver Edition (sorry Pyro lovers) and Gold trippi, oh hwat the heck, go everybody!It's the Spa, wish I was there, all of you come back and talk to us! oops, 10 minutes!

Used to go to the Spa every summer in the 60's and 70's but now I live in Texas and it is to far to drive. Not the same now as it was then anyway.

Ah, Saratoga.

Bill Mott's not the only one whose birthday heralds the joyful start of the Saratoga season. My birthday (which is the same as Harry Potter's - although it was mine first!) is also this week, and well I remember the mornings watching the horse come thundering out of the mist on the backstretch and the hot glorious afternoons.

Looking forward to reading everything you have to day - rain days and all!

Saratoga is open!, I plan to go up this weekend, I can't wait!, It couldn't open soon enough...

Excited to see the return of Pyro, It would be nice to see him hit the board in his return, I don't expect him to win, just yet, I love Riley Tucker along with a surprise, Cassoulet!

I like Decelerator and Beautician to upset Hot Dixie Chick in the Schuylerville Stakes, But I will box them, Of course...

Sarotoga and Del Mar, Could the Summer look any Better ?

It's sunny now and a little humid. But there are rain clouds in Buffalo, which is five hours away by car, and the forecast calls for thunderstorms in Saratoga around the seventh race. Might be betting that Schuylerville to be run on a sloppy track.

Thank you for your insight to racing's greatest meet.I am looking foreward to living vicariously poarticipating in Saratoga's charm through your comments.The same grandstands had a distinct creaking sound the day of Ridan versus Jaipur those years gone by.
