I was starting to panic as we arrived at exit 14 to a long traffic jam due to the huge tournout and fans desperate for find a parking spot. At last, like vic mentioned, we secured our spot behind the oklahoma training track and started a brisk walk past the back barn areas and towards union avenue. 12:55 and dad says "start running" so we get in on time for the first race!!! 'Headache', a 3 year old son of tapit gave me a quick migrane as he finish 3rd and detroyed all hope of my doubles, a bet i was nervous about making in time since passing springfield at 1030am!!! The weather couldn't have been more beauutiful as i introduced my son to the paddock area, the lovely tall elms and the 'big red spring' where he tasted possible the worst water in the universe..."it will bring you good luck my son" i said to him as he struggled to deal with the taste. the spring came through as i hit a $30 win ticket on Flashing which brought back 168.00!!! After watching commentator put in a gutsy effort after posting blistering fractions for 4 furlongs, my son and i made our long journey back to the remote parking lot. What made his day even better was an obscure gray mare inside a lonely stall along the road. My son petted the old gal for a few minutes and an instant connection was made to the great saratoga for him. What a long off season it will be to next august unless i can talk my wife into this years Woodward!!!!
