They really are taking their good old time deciding what to do, but if other trainers want to hold off on deciding where to run until they know where Rachel is gonna be, then that's on the other trainers, not Rachel's connections. The ONLY time Jackson and Asmussen held things up is the whole jockey shuffling during the crown, and that was primarily because of Borel and his inconsistency with Mine That Bird.

Yes, the owners have the right to chose but just go ahead and make up your minds. It comes across that they are holding up everyone elses decisions and acting like they are the rulers of the sport. Every horse can be beaten.

Jackson has a big interest in Kensei. A win in the Travers would be MUCH more important for Kensei than Rachel. He's not ducking Quality Road. They can still meet in the JCGC if Zenyatta's group is too chicken to come to the Beldame. Financially it would be irresponsible to put Rachel in the Travers instead of Kensei. Bring on the Woodward.

I agree with Swanmate on this one. Why does every "Tom, Vic & Harry" insist on second guessing all these owners and trainers? They're the ones putting up the big bucks for the horses, they're the ones who know their horses better than anyone else and it is completely their perogative to do what they feel is in the best interest of THEIR HORSE!!! We have no right whatsoever, as mere fans, to say what they should and shouldn't do. That's just plain arrogant. Whatever is best for RA is totally 100% fine with me!!

I have a hard time, too, with horses sold for 100's of thousands, millions, etc and backstretch workers needing a living wage, or jockeys need charity if paralyzed, etc....does not pass the "smell" test and is a big black mark against the industry.

RA possibly bypassing the Travers for Penn's bonus and ducking QR off his layoff and lack of preparation except for one sprint race doesn't cut it either, and I'm always very generous in believing you run your horses where you see fit...I just think if he hadn't shown up there'd be no doubt what race she'd be entered in.

I'm sorry, but I hate that you hinted towards Jackson & Asmussen not being 'sportsmen' if they decide to run in PA. I'd love to see Rachel run in the Woodward or Travers just like everyone else, but we can't hold it against them for going to a smaller race when they've already done so much with her this summer. Let's not forget that her original owners never intended for her to run against the boys....Jackson & Asmussen made it possible twice thus far, judging them for taking a conservative path for the next race is just flat out selfish.

I also feel the need to point out that Mine That Bird went to Mountaineer after the Triple Crown Trail and nobody (that I'm aware of) gave his connections a hard time over it...they loved it because a 'big horse' was going to a smaller track. How is Rachel's potentially going to Philadelphia Park any different?
