I have worked for Hollendorfer back in 2000 - 2006 as an exercise rider and assistant.I think he is long overdue for the Hall of Fame. I have never worked for someone as dedicated to the game as Jerry. Cheers to you boss!!!

He's a rare commodity at the top level in that he actually races his horses like racehorses...his campaign with Blind Luck last year was old school beauty.

I can underscore what's been said about Jerry Hollendorfer here. As Northern California correspondent for the Bloodhorse from 1985-2000 I interviewed both Jerry and Russell Baze many times. Hollendorfer's work ethic IS intense. While he did make himself available, you had to keep up with him because he was multi-tasking to the max. I've often wondered what drives the man, but one thing I know is that he does seem to have mellowed from his early years as indicated in the article. There are some stories about Jerry's competitive nature that would suggest he's a tyrant. When Baze noted that he used to "get mad" that's putting it mildly. In the end, he let's his horses speak for his brilliance as a horseman. He never makes excuses and should definitely be in the Hall of Fame. Very few people, if any, could accomplish what he's done. Perhaps when he's inducted into the Hall of Fame, a few of those stories from the early years will emerge. They'll reveal a depth of intensity rarely seen on the backside.

Great call on Jerry being a slam dunk , but the irony of this silly thing of the hall of fame is all those trainers are deserving as are the jocks, I mean how long will Alex Solis have to wait? 10 years?
