They already own much of the data rights, so it makes sense to delegate and orchestrate with that insight.

Your reaction to this year's Round Table was a lot more restrained than mine. I watched the whole 2 hour video, and at the end of the McKinsey presentation, I wanted to stand up and cheer! In one fell swoop, the Jockey Club took the reins and said giddy-up! It finally has realized that it can't delegate something as important as the total survival of the sport to an organization that basically has failed at even promoting itself, the NTRA, let alone the sport and industry. The loss recently of large members/ contributors are obvious examples of this. The NTRA was given a mandate with no enforcement powers! It probably was a failed idea from the get-go when you stop to think about it. And the Jockey Club not only has the resources but it has the teeth to enforce whatever new rules it wants to impose. The sport needs a strong central voice, and apparently the Jockey Club has decided to answer the call to post! That's a very good thing for the sport and the industry.

How come so much is suddenly available? You can bet the members aren't paying for this out of their own pockets.
