Come on--predict-- Any horse fan knows the Pimlico Special. I too am a west coaster, but I knew it was not running anymore. Can't wait for Friday so I can place a few on Endorsement. Hey maybe another Horse of the Year!

I very much enjoyed reading this article. I have been interested in racing history since childhood, so I always love the "traditional" races where the great horses from the past ran and won. I hope this is the beginning (and return) of a great tradition.

Pimlico Special is back? I never realized it had been gone, as I am on the West Coast and was not very much interested in Pimlico, except for the Preakness. I didn't know it had such an amazing history- thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I remember a jockey who rode Invasor actually saying after he rode Union Rags, that Rags was the best horse he had ever riddden, I can't wait to see that statement vindicated.

The Special has always been an important race and the money problems in Maryland have always left its furture on the chopping block. To secure the Special's place in the present I think they should cement its date on the program and now that they have slots, increase the purse. Who is entered in this years race?
