Fortunately many more are not. To feel included and motivated by one of your idols certainly has contributed to making you the writer you are today. Horse racing is so much more than this group or that profession. Breeders, owners, trainers, riders, writers, and fans all make the sport. A place for the wordsmiths in the Hall is long overdue.

And you're absolutely right! Joe Hirsch BELONGS in the Hall Of Fame, as do Charlie Hatton, Red Smith, and Jim Murray (and so many more). And what about racecallers.....Henson, Anderson, Hernandez (and so many more).

It might be one of the greatest legacies that Joe Hirsch could leave us if he were to be the one to open up the Hall Of Fame to so many who's indelible marks on our sport and it's history are like fingerprints through time.

I don't know if I dare hope!
