Both links worked well for us and we enjoyed seeing the photos of the race. Reading of how the owners treated each other after the races showed the class the people of that time had, even though they were in the midst of fierce competition.

Especially thank you for the link to the Belmont Secretariat article. The other link was not working a moment ago, and would love to read it about the 1969 Belmont as seen through the eyes of Kent Hollingsworth. Thanks again for the trip down memory lane.

I'm posting a link to the article so everyone else can enjoy it, too.
"At the start of the Belmont the best 3-year-olds in the land were all together, but at the end of 1 1/2 miles, Arts and Letters was all alone."

I'm also including another column of Kent's that has stuck with me followed Secretariat's phenomenal Belmont.
"What's Going on Here, June 18, 1973"

Another Belmont-related piece has stuck with me and that's his What's Going on Here column about Secretariat's Belmont blowout. I've posted a link to it as well.

For anyone with a collection of past bloodhorse magazines,or have access to them, I highly recommend the edition that covered the 1969 Belmont. Mr Hollingsworth's opening comments about the pace of this race (and indeed, the whole piece) is something that I always seem to revisit every now & then. He was a gifted writer and really knew how to write about racing.
