I have been following Coil since Bob Baffert first mentioned him when he was looking to go to the Kentucky Derby and said that he had this horse named Coil but wasn't sure if he would be ready for the classics in time. He is a son of Point Given, he said and he thought he was going to be a really good one. Maybe as good as his sire. I think he got the big horse he was hoping for.

I am very impressed with Stay Thirsty, who is poised to give a strong performance. He seems to be improving, and takes a liking to the Saratoga track. I think the race is between him, Coil, and Shackelford. Not sure if Shackelford gets to the wire first because the 1 1/4 mile distance seems to be problematic for him.

with a win in the travers stakes shackleford will wrap up the three year eclipse title. he will be tough too get by in the final furlong

Coil to win. The move he made in the Haskell, after bobbling at the break, then passing a classy field, was breathtaking. My only concern is will he be able to settle again, which was the key in the Haskell with blinkers off.

Coil, Stay Thirsty, Ruler On Ice, Shackleford.

Caleb's Posse to win the King's Bishop at a decent price. The race is setting up perfectly for him.

I've been following Stay Thirsty since last year because of his pedigree and it's been wonderful to see him coming into his own. Most people love the speed pedigrees, but I go for endurance. Those horses tend to stick around longer.

Stay Thirsty is from a later-maturing, distance-loving family; his dam's only lifetime win came at 4, at 12f over the All-Weather at Lingfield. His half-brother Andromeda's Hero placed in the Belmont, Suburban, and JC Gold Cup. The second dam placed in the Alabama, CCA Oaks, and the Ladies H when it was G1 at 10f. The third dam placed in the CCA Oaks and so did a full sister. Fifth dam was a full sister to Triple Crown winner Assault and foaled Prove Out, who upset Secretariat in the Woodward (10f then) and also won the JC Gold Cup at 2 miles. The fact that ST showed some talent at 2 and early at 3 was surprising; he had to be doing it on class. He may end up as a BC Marathoner at 4 and 5.

If Coil is as good as they say then he should win, he is obviously the freshest horse in here. Many of these 3 year olds have had a hard campaign, especially Shackleford. Sooner or later they will horses, we musn't forget that these are just 3 year olds growing up fast.

Still like Uncle Mo in the King's Bishop, haven't given up on him.
