Century Acres a new player in Lone Star State

About 40 miles northwest of Houston, Texas, in an area known for the horse farms that populate its sandy soil and gently rolling hills, there is a new kid in town. It was around a year ago when partners Teofilo “Teo” Mallet and David Ranslem bravely put down roots in the 100-acre property adjacent to Lane’s End Texas, aptly named it Century Acres, and gave legs to the venture they had been planning for years.

“This is the best horse land in this area of the state, and being located next to Lane’s End was a no-brainer,” said Mallet, 46, who serves as manager of the Hempstead, Texas, operation.

Century Acres may be starting out small—there are currently about 25 horses boarded on the property—but Mallet and Ranslem have big dreams.
