SOME OF US ARE FORTUNATE enough to be able to plan our retire-ment dream of a snug cabin on the coast of Maine or an oceanfront beach hut in Costa Rica, but few retirement spots can top Rose Bower, Va., site of War Horses at Rose Bower. Rose Bower, a tiny community founded in the 1800s, is located in the Piedmont region of south central Virginia. War Horses is a Thoroughbred racehorse adoption and rescue farm.
