FRANK MIRAHMADI TO BE THURSDAY'S GUEST ON BLOODHORSE.COM "TALKIN' HORSES"

Lexington, KY - Join track announcer and TV analyst Frank Mirahmadi for Thursday's edition of bloodhorse.com "Talkin' Horses" sponsored by AirShod.com. Mirahmadi will be the guest live online at www.BloodHorse.com/TalkinHorses on Thursday, January 17 at noon ET. Currently, Mirahmadi calls races for the California Authority of Racing Fairs as well as works as a racing analyst on TVG. In 1996 Mirahmadi was named track announcer at Hialeah Park, where he served until the historic track closed in 2001. He served as track announcer and racing publicity manager at Louisiana Downs from 2000-2005, and has also been a guest announcer at several tracks across the country, including Ruidoso Downs, where he called the All American Futurity in 1999.

Mirahmadi has called races in more than 30 voices, including celebrities Rodney Dangerfield, Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando, and Andy Rooney. He won TVG's Viewer's Choice Award for Race Call of the Year in 2000 for a call at Churchill Downs on All-Star Announcer's day in which he imitated all of the announcers who called that day, an award he won again in 2001. He was also the Santa Anita Track Announcer in "Seabiscuit" and most recently played the role of Monmouth Park Track Announcer in "Ruffian."

A Los Angeles native, Mirahmadi started going to horse races as a kid, spending many of his weekends with his dad at Santa Anita, Del Mar, and Hollywood Park. Horse racing quickly became his favorite sport, and he was a fan of track announcers before his 10th birthday. He credits Trevor Denman for inspiring him to become an announcer. Mirahmadi called his first race at Hollywood Park on December 24, 1992, closing day of the fall meet. At the time, Denman was Hollywood's announcer and had taken vacation. Mirahmadi called track president Don Robbins, stating that he could imitate Denman as well as Harry Henson. After sending in a tape of his impressions and passing a test by calling two races into a tape recorder in the press box, Mirahmadi made his announcing debut, calling two races: one as Denman, the other combining the voices of Denman, Alan Buchdahl, and Henson.
