Warren J. Harang III grows horses and sugar in Cajun Country

A SHARED CHARACTERISTIC of farmers, ranchers, and horsemen is they don’t like to waste time. The clock is always ticking, and there is always something to do. One of the first people to arrive in the winner’s circle after Hail to the Nile won the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Turf Stakes Dec. 10 at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots was the breeder Warren J. Harang III, who fits the profile of all three occupations.

A sugar cane farmer, a cattle rancher, and a breeder of Thoroughbreds, Harang was in the spotlight as he held the trophy. Hail to the Nile’s victory had pushed the horse near the $250,000 mark in earnings.
