Tragedy leads to triumph for Barry and Sheryl Schwartz

ON A RAIN-SWEPT AFTERNOON, through a temporary window of calm, Barry K. Schwartz, 76, strides into the Belmont Park paddock. The oversized umbrella he carries remains furled and tucked beneath one arm. Schwartz has come to observe the fruits of his Stonewall Farm—a 2-year-old New York-bred filly sired by Scat Daddy about to make her racing debut.
