YOU CAN'T KEEP A PASSIONATE, hard-working horseman down. Pierre Esquirol is as determined a Thoroughbred breeder as you will meet, some-one who has ridden the highs and lows of the business and continues to reinvent his program not just for his own gain but in the hopes of bettering the industry. From his first broodmare purchases when he was in his mid 20s and in his home province of Saskatchewan to building up his 160-acre Esquirol Farms in Ryley, Al-berta, Canada, from scratch, the 54-year-old always has a plan.
