On August 22, at noon Brumfield Hay and Grain Co. will host a live natural horsemanship demo. Walter Murphy will work with a horse and show spectators how to start a horse from the ground up.
Walter is a volunteer speaker for the National Unwanted Horse Coalition and is also the founder of 3R-Ranch-Horses Helping Children, Inc. which is a non-profit org. dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and relocation of horses donated, neglected or abandoned. The ranch also travels to children's hospitals and care centers to offer buggy rides to children who would otherwise never get the opportunity to know and love working with horses. Also the UK extension program assistant for Casey county, Walter works very hard to help children and horses, please consider placing this event on your calendar and website.
The second event will take place on Sept. 5, 2009 at noon. Dr. Bradford Bentz will be speaking in our conference about pre-purchase exams for the competitive horse. Dr. Bentz graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992, is board certified in Large Animal Internal Medicine (ACVIM) and Equine Practice (ABVP) and has worked for the United States Equestrian Team. He has served as an endurance veterinarian, he has worked extensively with show jumpers, hunters, dressage horses and eventers. Dr. Bentz offers experienced pre-purchase examination in the United States and Europe. He has served as a professor of equine internal medicine at Oklahoma State University where he was the team veterinarian for the Oklahoma State University’s Equestrian Team and he was a member of the veterinary team at the 2005 FEI World Cup. Dr. Bentz has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, performed internal medicine research and is a respected performance horse veterinarian with national recognition.
