American Pharoah Arrives at Ashford Stud

With a police escort, Triple Crown winner American Pharoah was transported by a Brook Ledge van from Keeneland to Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky., where he will begin his stud career. Bob, Jill and Bode Baffert also were in the entourage along with Jimmy Barnes, Eduardo Luna, Jorge Alvarez and others.

Barnes walked the champ off the van and through the breeding shed to the stallion barn. Wraps were taken off and then American Pharaoh was paraded in front of Ashford staff and local media. Baffert arrived carrying a bag of carrots, which he gave the colt during the media session.

Jill Baffert used her mobile phone to get some images of the colt in his new surroundings. Coaxed on by fellow Irishmen, M.V. Magnier gave American Pharaoh a kiss. Media talked with Ashford stallion manager Richard Barry, Magnier and Baffert about American Pharoah’s new career and routine.
