The Fantasy Breeders' Cup Sprint

Since we had fun debating the Fantasy Breeders' Cup Classic last month, I thought now would be a good time for part 2 of horse racing's dream match-ups, which are stretched across the far wall at Harry's Bar & Grill in Lexington.

This poll involves is the Fantasy Breeders' Cup Sprint. What's difficult about this one is that many of these great horses were more than just great sprinters. For example, the 8-5 favorite, Dr. Fager, made just five of his 22 lifetime starts in sprints and none at the BC Sprint distance of six furlongs. Same thing with Ack Ack, Bold Ruler, and Coaltown, who had only six or seven starts in sprints.

Of the so-called "favorites" in this race, Ta Wee, who made all 21 of her starts in sprints, and Decathlon were probably the truest sprinters.

Anyway, most of these horses go back before my time, so all I have to go by are record books and a few video clips. I'll defer to some of you more seasoned bloggers that actually saw them in person. From what I've been told, however, it would be hard for me to leave Bold Ruler off any ticket.

Also up for debate, which modern day sprinters would make your list?
