This is a very tough field to pick. But, what the heck.  I'm going with: J.P's Gusto, The Factor, SwayAway and Arch x 3.  I'm hoping that The Factor can hold his speed over extended ground.  I'm excited to see what he has in his tank.

There is not a lot of speed in the race. Saratoga Red is the only one who can go with The Factor.  We will see how far this Baffert freak really wants to go.  $20 EX Box The Factor and JPs Gusto.

SnakeEyes 17 Mar 2011 10:29 PM

1) The Factor

2) Caleb's Posse

3) JP Gusto

4) Elite Alex

Horses with proven form over the track are doing very well recently.  I like the up and coming Alternation and elite alex.  The rail is going to kill archx3 if they send him.

danielle 17 Mar 2011 11:06 PM

well what the owner and trainer of archarcharch, they said he's going to go and to me the only way he'd have a chance is if his jockey decided to pop the gate with him and gain 2 lengths on the field immediately, but then he could either take back or fight with the factor for the lead, which might kill both off and i hope they run 1-2 with the factor winning.

I love a good story so thats why i like  Dreaminofthewin remember Assault March 26, 1943 – September 2, 1971 "Club-footed Comet well also one of the triple crown winner. This colt  Dreaminofthewin has a quater crack on his hoof but has shown ability of closing ground late. The key in my madness is his Oaklawn Park 1/17/11  Smarty Jones Stakes was a dense fog day but rallied to be second beaten 5 lenghts has a solid fourth choice finishing in 1:43.07 in the mile race in his other race Oaklawn Park 2/21/11  Race 7  Allowance 1mile and sixteen  he was moving late lost by half lenght and was a solid second choice the final time was 1:45.24 Both times he was closing ground.I see the rebel full of pace and speed. And the unknown of The factor distance limitations and other cheap speed will more likely setup with a closer thats why i like Dreaminofthewin

the play

$20 win and place

This is just the right fit for Sway Away....look out!

darkhorse 18 Mar 2011 12:38 AM

I hope Elite Alex and Sway Away dead-heat. I've been following both since their initial starts and have been happy with how they are coming along. I dislike Borel and fault him and him-only for Elite Alex's lack of impact on the Southwest. Sway Away has better connections, being a fan of past Rebel winner Sierra Sunset along with the jockey who somehow got the three-year-old champion's nose down in this race last year. So I put Sway Away on top, but both Afleet Alex horses should do well, along with Alternation and J P's Gusto and barring a a bounce ArchArchArch could do well again. I think some of these closers were hoping The Factor showed, he should provided a good honest pace and he just might pull a Sinister Minister type performance here. It doesn't mean he's better suited for this type of race though. He should go race Flashpoint win or lose.

TC 18 Mar 2011 1:35 AM

if The Factor is going to be considered a true Kentucky Derby horse then he needs to be able to handle this field at a mile and a sixteenth. Until he wins a race like this I don't have him in my top 10. Yes, we all know he has blazing speed.........

Deacon 18 Mar 2011 2:18 AM

Elite Alex!!!

CURLINLOVER 18 Mar 2011 7:23 AM

I like elite alex and sway away i have them in my roadtotheroses stable. I'm really worried about the factor and jp's gusto beating me so i'll bet them all in tri and exacta bets.

Jay B 18 Mar 2011 10:35 AM

wanna make sum fast cash ? bet on glint , he will pull the upset sat. he is sitting on a big race

DUMMY JONES 18 Mar 2011 11:02 AM

The Factor's sire and dam both won at this very distance; why would his breeding be viewed as a problem here?

DanC 18 Mar 2011 11:38 AM

archarcharcharcharcharch...arch...arch

Simply Majestic 18 Mar 2011 11:45 AM

I'm sold on Alternation.

MRO 18 Mar 2011 12:16 PM

The Alex boys are side by side again.  Bring it on home guys!

9 and 10 post positions! Unbelievable.  Now head for the finish line for good ole' Dad Afleet Alex.

The Factor and Archarcharch -

Archarcharch and The Factor - which will it be?

AnneM 18 Mar 2011 1:07 PM

Just read this morning that Dreaminofthewin and Glint will be scratched.

Afleet Treet 18 Mar 2011 2:36 PM

1-SWAY AWAY 2-ArchArchArch 3-The Factor

All you have to do is watch the replay of the Best Pal and San Vicente. Sway Away is a monster, full of muscle, power, and stamina.

Forbidden Apple 18 Mar 2011 2:52 PM

The Factor will be eased , just like Runflatout last weekend. Superior sprinters sometimes just don't want two turns, they don't call it 'runaway speed' for nothing. As fast as they can, as far as they can.

1. Alternation

2. Caleb's Posse

3. Archarcharch

4. Elite Alex

That's the way I see it.

Zenyatta John 18 Mar 2011 2:56 PM

Caleb's Posse. Terrible trip in the Southwest. Big $$$$.

Tom Vinci 18 Mar 2011 8:39 PM

The Factor should wire this field. Not much pace, CA shippers have done very well at Oaklawn over the last several years. I mean Baffert went from the Sunland Derby which has to be a softer spot then the race at Oaklawn. This is a good sign and I don't see anyone beating him in this race, but also don't see him winning the Ky Derby.

furlongs 18 Mar 2011 9:23 PM

The factor is fast but think that tank gets empty in deep stretch.

pittsburgh jd 18 Mar 2011 9:35 PM

The way I look at this race is The Factor is the big speed other then a simple maiden winner. In order to make money in this race you have to throw out Sway Away. If the race comes The Factor/Sway Away you get nothing on the ex and tri. So I am going to use The Factor on top and key J.P Gusto with some nice price horses and hope to get paid. If Sway Away doesnt run or is just a closing one turn horse then I make some good money. But I just don't see anyone really pushing The Factor. If you watch the gallop out of the last race The Factor was never passed by Sway Away and thats the gamble. ALSO as a side note I think Blind luck is totally over the top from a very gusty and hard 3 year old season with alot of travel. Larry Jones horse should kill that field and going to take a shot that Blink Luck is over the top and put the all button in between Havre De Grace and Blind Luck in the Tri. Have a wonderful day at the races wveryone and Good Luck to all!!

furlongs 19 Mar 2011 2:28 AM

1st-Sway Away--should run by them all late, getting double revenge on two that beat him at 7f.

1nd-J P's Gusto--I don't like him for the Derby, but this miler fits in this race and should get first run if The Factor fades.

3rd-The Factor--looks hard to rate, and will probably get caught late.

4th-Alternation--could surprise with a late run into the exotics.

5th-Archarcharch--should stalk the Factor and hope to inherit the lead at some point.

6th--Elite Alex--heard he looked tired after his long gallop the other day, was thinking he might scratch.

Glint definitely 13th.  (Scratch)

Matt Converse 19 Mar 2011 4:42 AM

The Factor's problem isn't so much pedigree as it his headstrong mentality.  He seems to want to run as fast as he can as far as he can.  If he does that here and can't rate, he'll probably tire late.  Fighting with the jock, head cocked to the side would also be a bad sign, both seem likely.  If he rates, that's another story, he'd have a greaty chance because he's so fast.

Matt Converse 19 Mar 2011 4:45 AM

JP Gusto

Elite Alex

JW Blue

Alternation

The Factor

Don from PA/DE 19 Mar 2011 7:45 AM

I really liked Sway Away last race and Gomez is the most aggressive jockey at the end of a race. And my top three are Sway Away,Elite Alex and Alternation.

KLC 19 Mar 2011 10:09 AM

the factor will pack it at the 7 fur mark, hes not running on the hard surface at SA but a deeper track at oaklawn im hopping sway away sits back about 4 or 5 and and then comes flying

ilwacocapper 19 Mar 2011 10:42 AM

GG comes half way across the USA for the ride on Stay Away.  Of course he should collect the plane fare with Blind Luck.  Hey, maybe it will be a double...but you can't bet it.

cozzene 19 Mar 2011 12:29 PM

I have to admit, I didn't believe The Factor could race longer than sprint...I'm glad he can :D If he goes to the Derby it's going to be a really interesting race

Don't see him win the Derby, but he'll do a very good pace and that's how we'll see what Mo really has if they both stay healthy 'til there!

Sway Away disapointed me ^^; He looked great in his last race and I thought he could catch The Factor or at least be in the Top 3, with longer distance....

Anyway, the Derby picture is getting more and more interesting (^^; if no one get hurt like Boys or Rogue Romance....or Kantharos :( and so many others)

Katie 19 Mar 2011 8:10 PM

Three little words ...

The Factor won!

Sorry, can't wipe the smile off my face!  lol
