MUCHO MACHO MAN

What a thrill it will be to see Calvin and Edgar side by side. As much as I always bet on Edgar, in the past, Calvin will be saluting the bayou because he'll be on the Elite saddle. Go Elite Alex Go Calvin Go Alex Scott, spread your wings!

This race is a cake walk for Mucho Macho Man ...absolutely untouchable.  He'll run huge and have six weeks to grow further into a Derby monster.

Look for a big front running gambit from Liondrive.  He could make the frame. Wilkinson and Machen will be finishing strongly for a slice of the million dollar pie but neither are ready for the big times IMO.  The same applies to Elite Alex.

1-NACHO BUSINESS 2-Left 3-Mucho Macho Man

Nacho Business was closing fast into a slow pace set by Arch Traveler last time out. The pace should be hotter in here and Nacho Business will be running hard late. I also like Left even though his races have been slow so far. He is an improving horse that might surprise some folks on saturday. MMM is a nice horse, but it's hard to take 8/5 on a horse who had an easy lead last time out.

Forbidden Apple 25 Mar 2011 12:43 AM

Mucho Macho Man is clearly the best in this surprisingly weak field for such an important prep race. Not sure why so many trainers are skipping this race.

Elite Alex

exacta ^^

Nehro will surprise alot of people. I'm using him in all my exotics. You can thank me later when you cash.

Longshot 25 Mar 2011 9:01 AM

to ranagulzion : i must strongly disagree with you on all fronts , mucho macho man is vastly overrated , the public likes his lil feel good story and his corny name , but he has little talent and will be exposed for what he is saturday , an overblown horse being backed by a clueless public throwing thier money away on a third rate nag !

AUNT CURLY 25 Mar 2011 9:02 AM

I only "know" Mucho Macho Man...he's good, he'll GET IT. Unless there is an upset... :p BTW, are all the good names taken already? "Pants on Fire"? "Nacho Business"?

RachelForever 25 Mar 2011 9:04 AM

Aunt Curly,

Relax with the equine insults. What did this horse ever do to you that was so hurtful?

Forbidden Apple 25 Mar 2011 9:39 AM

Aunt Curly, that is a great nugget of wisdom you just gave us. Please, give us more. You are "WINNING" the blog of the day award... Charlie would be proud of his fellow warlock

Billy's Empire 25 Mar 2011 10:16 AM

mucho macho man over left, elite alex, and wilkinson in a tri.

Jay B 25 Mar 2011 11:12 AM

Seriously Aunt Curly your insults lead me to believe your CS in drag and no you are not "WINNING!", sounds more like your whining that you decided to bet against MMM in the Risen Star. I don't know that he'll win but he'll show up and run his race and thus far he's been a pretty decent type!!

Nashuaruns 25 Mar 2011 11:18 AM

i went with left to win, macho to place, and either pants or wilkinson to show.

the two horses that i think will disappoint are machen and elite alex

i don't like judging horses i haven't seen in person, and the only one on the list i've seen up close is macho, but that was a few months ago in florida....

papillon 25 Mar 2011 11:19 AM

Forbidden Apple, we agree on Left, but not Elite Alex. I think after what Calvin said, that he was reminded of Street Sense when riding him, he is sittin on a big race. I also think Nehro might suprise some folks.

Billy's Empire 25 Mar 2011 11:50 AM

I'm not sure why Elite Alex is getting so much love. His last few races have been unimpressive. Another example of the Calvin Borel hype wagaon.

Obama Communist 25 Mar 2011 11:58 AM

you folks wanna know why im down on mucho macho man ? i bet a fortune on a horse named santiva in the risen star stakes earlier this year and mucho SISSY man beat him ! i lost all my kids college money ! lol !

AUNT CURLY 25 Mar 2011 12:44 PM

Wilkinson in front...

WATCH-OUT FOR WILKINSON

Mike 25 Mar 2011 1:30 PM

AUNT CURLY,

You have my sympathies.  Mucho Macho Man is going to trample this LA Derby field.  Avoid going against the "Macho Man" again on Saturday.

Ranagulzion 25 Mar 2011 7:35 PM

Yeah, its never happened before and usually Downey is way off base, but with we both agreeong on "Wilkinson" where I have already preplaced a bet, I am ....what was that paces name... "NERRRRVVOUSSSSS"

zarvona 25 Mar 2011 8:07 PM

OK who was that that voted for Populist Politics??

zarvona 25 Mar 2011 8:10 PM

Mucho Macho Man....all the way.   Say Hay Willie Mays

Ricrufus 25 Mar 2011 10:57 PM

Mucho Macho Man is as much of a lock as Brethren was in the TB Derby. None of these horses are killers, the $1 million purse is up for grabs. I do like Borel, but I think that Elite Alex is his only KY Derby prospect to date. So I can see why he would love this horse. The truth is that he could not even run past JP's Gusto last time out. I don't see one true speed horse in the race. Nacho Business just needs to sit close to the front end and he should close very well.

Forbidden Apple 25 Mar 2011 11:43 PM

What is Elite Alex going to do if he does not draw a good post position in the Derby?  Mucho Macho Man and Left are the bright spots in this race.

One big win and suddenly M Macho Man is the best thing since sliced bread. And forget that he lost the 3 races before that, right? And that the horses who beat him in those races have since lost? Lot of new shooters here, horses who weren't in the Risen Star.
