2011 Alabama - Predict the Order of Finish

There may be only 6 fillies running in the 1 1/4 mile Alabama (gr. I), but predicting the complete order of finish in this field will not be easy.

Need more information about the Alabama? Read the race preview, or watch That Handicapping Show.

To participate, use your cursor to drag the selections on the left (currently arranged in post position order) to the blank placeholders on the right. Once you have completed ranking all of the horses, submit your entries and compare your results to the rest of the community. A first place ranking will earn 5 points, second place receives 4 points, and so on.

This is an intriguing contest.  Plum Pretty is a sentimental choice here but only just over Inglorious.  The latter is a much underrated filly but she could be the new "Dance Smartly" from Canada.

If Inglorious takes to the dirt it's over.

It's Tricky will be tough, but I don't see her as unstoppable. Inglorious is the only one here with the 1 1/4 mile experience, though I'm picking St. John's River (partly sentimental, of course) since she's a real nice closer who has been raced pretty conservatively.

Not sure I would compare Inglorious to Dance Smartly but her Queens Plate effort convinces me she has a legitimate shot here.

No real pace and the #'s 2,5 & 6 have no real speed. I suspect the 3-4 to go early and get split by the #1 at the wire. 3-1-4 or 4-1-3.

Plum Pretty's speed actually is an advantage at longer distances.  She will steal this one on the front end.  Inglorious showed she was for real by beating the boys up north.  She will have the best final kick home.  It's Tricky will a valiant but not good enough 3rd.

a mile and a quarter is long for this fillies. plum pretty will set a slow pace then hold off it's tricky and royal delta. to give bob baffert another grade 1 victory

Great performance by Royal Delta in the Alabama today, great patience shown by the rider and more importantly where did the West Coast horse finish in this race.  4th I believe.  Pretender.

Now out west the other coast got their wish and an East Coaster flew over that Rocky Mountain range that they are so scared to fly over, but Summer Soiree took down the Cali field in an impressive time.  What is going on with the West Coast Horses seems like they struggled mightily at Saratoga this weekend and then let a shipper come in and take down a Grade 1 on their home turf.  hmmmmmmmm.
