And Down The Stretch Comes, A Tractor?

Evasive maneuvering displays how much skill jockeys must have, to weave in and out of tractors near full speed. Amazing.
Apparently, after one trip around the track, the maintenance crew thought the race was over.

No horses were hurt and the betting public had their money returned.

If you can not see the video, here is the original story.

Jedi Code with Calvin Borel wins the 7th race. Night racing at Churchill Downs, where it was Disco theme night, on Friday, June 11, 2010, in Louisville, Ky.

THAT was frightening!  (Somehow, I don't think that this thoroughbred style of barrel racing will ever catch on.)

hey, Adam.  Nice to see you back :-)

So, can we use your "favorites" thread to mention our own?  I've been following a filly/mare for a couple of years now and just love her.  Avie's Tale (Tale of the Cat x Fly for Avie, by Lord Avie). She tries sooo hard and is almost always somewhere in the mix at the finish, but I've never got to see her win one.  Her trainer, Josie Carroll, brought her down from Canada to run at FG on January 1 in the Blushing KD stakes,  Rosie Napravnik aboard.  and she WON! in the slop! by 3 1/4 lengths! on her 6th (official) birthday!  I'm so proud of her!!!

WOW, Someone in Japan needs to work on their communication skills. Holy crap ! That could have been very ugly. Kudos to the Jocks for getting themselves and their horses through that safely.

Holy Hannah...that was a wild race.  Makes one think twice before criticizing how the Downs handled the BC.  Great game of "dodge-ems" by the jockeys.

It looks like Fabulous Strike has been working steadily at five furlongs in PEN. Reading on a few other forums, he dosn't seem to have a race yet he is pointed to. Hopefully you will receive a notification soon.

Did everybody see the Sweet Life S. @SA replay 1/22?  She'll Heir lost Patrick Valenzuela at the gate and ran the whole race on her own.  I know how dangerous it is to have a loose horse on the track, but the girl was totally focused and ran her race.  She hit the wire first, actually, and pulled herself up just as if she had a ghost-rider in the saddle.  The racing gods were looking after her (and the field) for sure.  Check it out.
