Not necessarily. A successful gelding with a long career could benefit the Thoroughbred marketplace more in the long run than yet another stallion prospect..

I Want Revenge could have been purchased for $100,000 at last year's Barretts May sale of 2-year-olds in training for $100,000, but nobody wanted to pay the price. That was a good thing for breeder David Lanzman because now the colt is a top Triple Crown candidate.

Fasig-Tipton reported the private sales of horses completed during its March 3 Florida select sale of 2-year-olds in training. Did it just help the sale company improve some of its statistics or was it a good thing?
