Friday Fun - Name That Horse!

The hallways of Blood-Horse Publications are a gallery of spectacular equine art. A couple of weeks ago, I challenged you to name a horse based on a painting in one of our conference rooms.  Who's up for another challenge?

This time, let's make it interesting:  the winner (randomly selected from the best responses) will receive a $20 gift certificate to the Blood-Horse Photo Store.

Below are four images.  Identify as many of the horses as you can and post your response as a comment to this blog. Make sure to include an email address in the space provided so that I can contact you if you win. (NOTE: I will hold all responses until noon on Monday, Aug. 18; all answers will be published and the contest will end at that time). Click on any of the thumbnails to see a larger version.

I think picture number 4 is Secretariat. Facial marking and the rear sock look about right.

I thought number 1 might be him, but I think Bold Ruler's last foals came in 1971. So, empty on 1,2 and 3.

Hmm ... well, the bottom one (no. 4) is definitely the immortal Secretariat. The third one, I'm thinking, is Bernardini. The mare? Wavy Navy, maybe? Alas, not a clue on the foal.

Jill 15 Aug 2008 4:21 PM

D'oh! I take back Wavy Navy; you'd said the pictured horse was a two-time champion, which WN decidedly was not ... although she sure produced some good ones.

Jill 15 Aug 2008 4:24 PM
