Sand Suits Beach

Cocoa Beach (CHI) proved herself very well suited by the Nad al Sheba sand track as she coasted to a five length victory in the Meydan U.A.E. One Thousand Guineas (UAE-I) Feb. 8. Cocoa Beach, who runs in the colors of HRH Princess Haya of Jordan, was foaled in Chile, but has a pedigree with strong U.S. connections.

Her sire is Stonewall Farm resident Doneraile Court (TrueNicks, SRO), who got Cocoa Beach in a shuttle crop. The dam, Visionera (CHI), is a daughter of the Deputy Minister horse Edgy Diplomat, best known in the U.S. as the sire of the imported multiple graded winner Ema Bovary (CHI). The second dam, Spray (CHI), is by Roy, a Fappiano son who was a dominant sire in Chile, and who also served a few seasons at Darby Dan Farm. Cocoa Beach is a TrueNicks A++ horse on the basis of the Seattle Slew/Deputy Minister cross. The strength of the mating is underlined by the fact that Doneraile Court is also an A++ nick with mares by Roy.
