Pivotal Makes Point

That Pivotal (GB) is one of Europe's best stallions is not exactly news. However, Cheveley Park Stud's Nureyev grandson recently enjoyed a day that was special, even by his standards. At Kempton on Saturday, April 12, there were three black type events and offspring of Pivotal won all three, with a one-two in one race.
First up was the Oddschecker.com Snowdrop Fillies Stakes, which resulted in a first stakes win for Heaven Sent (GB), who tallied by two over fellow Pivotal daughter, Chantilly Tiffany (GB). Bred by Cheveley Park Stud, Heaven Sent is out of the Rahy (TrueNicks, SRO) mare Heavenly Ray, and is a full sister to the brilliant distaffer Megahertz (GB), an earner of over $2.2 million.
The Pivotal/Rahy (TrueNicks, SRO) cross wasn't done for the day, as in the Oddschecker.com Masaka Stakes - a One Thousand Guineas Trial - Jazz Jam (GB), a daughter of Pivotal and the group-winning Rahy mare Applaud, gained her first black type win. Heaven Sent and Jazz Jam are both TrueNicks rated A++ on the basis of the Pivotal/Rahy cross. Heaven Sent is an outcross at five generations, but Jazz Jam is also inbred 4 x 3 to Northern Dancer at the top and bottom of the pedigree.
There is a pedigree link between Heaven Sent and Jazz Jam and Pivotal's third stakes winner of the day. That was Il Warrd (IRE), a colt who captured the Oddschecker.com Easter Stakes - a Two Thousand Guineas Trial - by a convincing 4 1/2 lengths. Il Warrd's broodmare sire, Machiavellian, is out of a Halo mare, as is Rahy. An example of the Pivotal/Mr. Prospector cross that has also produced group I winner Excellent Art (GB) and group winners Captain Rio (GB), Humouresque (GB), and Brazilian Bride (IRE), Il Warrd is rated A by TrueNicks.
