Brewing Up

A horse who peaked at 5 and 6 - when he won back-to-back renewals of the Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I), Milwaukee Brew (TrueNicks, SRO) was never going to sire early runners. However, with his first crop now 3, the brew is beginning to ferment for this Adena Springs South stallion. Progress started quietly with One Quick Brew (rated A) taking the non-black type Oregon Derby in March. On April 26, Ginger Brew (B+) became her sire's first black type runner with a win in the Calder Oaks. Just a week later, Dicey D J (also B+), became stakes winner number two for the sire with a score in the HookedontheFeelin Stakes at Pimlico.

Alan Porter has written previously about Holy Bull and his sons... he's written about Milwaukee Brew's stud career -- today, it all comes together as Alan predicts a future pedigree affinity between these two sires.
