It's no secret that Darley stallion Street Cry (IRE) (TrueNicks, SRO) has made an exceptional start to his stud career, but his performance over the July 4 weekend can't go without comment. First, on July 4, Summer Doldrums captured the Presque Isle Mile Stakes. Out of a mare by Unaccounted For, she is rated A++ by TrueNicks.
Then came July 5 at Hollywood Park.
First, Zenyatta emphasized the she is the second truly-exceptional horse in Street Cry's first crop - following champion 2-year-old and Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Street Sense (TrueNicks, SRO) - by taking her record to six-for-six in the Vanity Handicap (gr. I). Zenyatta is another TrueNicks A++ horse.
Five races later, Street Boss - like Summer Doldrums and Zenyatta - became the latest grade I winner for his sire with a score in the Triple Bend Handicap (gr. I). Like the early two Street Cry weekend stakes winners, Street Boss, who is out of a mare by Ogygian, is also rated A++.
