The newly retired Circular Quay (TrueNicks,SRO) is the latest stallion to
join the burgeoning TrueNicks roster.
The 5-year-old son of Kentucky Derby
(gr. I) winner Thunder Gulch had classic aspirations of his own after an
impressive victory in the 2007 Louisiana Derby (gr. II). The previous season he
was a contender for an Eclipse Award with wins in the Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) and
Bashford Manor (gr. III), and runner-up finishes in both the Breeders' Futurity
(gr. I) and Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I).
Circular Quay, who is out of the
grade I-winning Belong to Me mare Circle of Life, added the grade II New Orleans
Handicap to his resume this season and retires with earnings in excess of $1.5
million.
He enters stud at Brent Fernung's Journeyman Stud near Ocala, Fla.,
to stand alongside Bwana Charlie (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Cashel Castle (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Exclusive Quality (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Mass Media (TrueNicks,SRO)
,
Saint Anddan (TrueNicks,SRO)
, and Wildcat Heir (TrueNicks,SRO)
. Breeders also have access to complimentary
TrueNicks reports for these stallions courtesy of Journeyman.
