Sightseeing (TrueNicks,SRO is the newest stallion at Nathan Fox's Richland Hills Farm and is also the latest addition to the TrueNicks roster.
By
the A.P. Indy (TrueNicks,SRO)
stallion Pulpit, Sightseeing took the 2007 Peter Pan
Stakes (gr. II) and placed in four other graded events in his three
years on the track. Those include the grade I Wood Memorial, where he
defeated fellow grade I winner Any Given Saturday (TrueNicks,SRO)
. He retires with career earnings of $508,401.
Sightseeing
is a Phipps homebred and carries a typically strong female line. He is
a son of the Pleasant Colony mare Resort, who earned black type on four
occasions, including a runner-up finish to Jostle in the Coaching Club
American Oaks (gr. I). She is a half-sister to the graded stakes winners
Living Vicariously and With Distinction.
Richland
Hills is also home to three other promising young stallions, all of whom
will once again in the TrueNicks program for 2009.
Star Dabbler (TrueNicks,SRO)
is the veteran of the bunch, having completed his second year
at stud earlier this year. The powerfully built son of champion sire
Saint Ballado was a versatile runner. Winner of the grade II Indiana
Derby going two turns, Star Dabbler also ran second to Henny Hughes in
the grade I King's Bishop Stakes at seven furlongs. The King's Bishop has
proven to be a very good barometer of stallion potential in recent
years. Sires like Distorted Humor (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Elusive Quality (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Tale of the Cat (TrueNicks,SRO)
,
Forestry (TrueNicks,SRO)
, and More Than Ready (TrueNicks,SRO)
have all won or placed in the traditional
anchor of the Travers Day undercard.
Standing
alongside Star Dabbler and Sightseeing are Purim (TrueNicks,SRO)
and ]StormSurge], who
both joined the Richland Hills roster in time for the 2008 breeding
season. Purim
is the only son of Dynaformer (TrueNicks,SRO)
currently standing in Kentucky and is his
only grade I-winning son at stud anywhere. Purim's big win came in the
2007 Shadwell Mile (gr. I) on the turf at Keeneland. An earner of nearly
$1 million, Purim also counts a victory on the Razorback Breeders' Cup
H. (gr. III) )on dirt among his other five other
blackt ype wins. Purim certainly has the right female line to make an
impact as sire, as his fourth dam is Aspidistra, the dam of Dr. Fager
and the fourth dam of Unbridled.
Storm Surge (TrueNicks,SRO)
is obviously not the only son of Storm Cat at stud in Kentucky, but he is very promising one. A
multiple stakes winner at 2, Storm Surge took the grade III LeComte
Stakes at Fair Grounds as a sophomore. He placed in four other stakes
that season including the Louisiana Derby (gr. II) and the Coolmore
Lexington (gr. II). He hails from one of the best sire families in the
stud book as his third dam is Miss Swapsco, whose line has produced the
leading sires Saint Ballado, Rahy (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Singspiel, Devil's Bag, and Rakeen.
