TrueNicks
is delighted to welcome the 13-horse contingent from Elite Thoroughbreds of
Folsom, La., which becomes that state's first farm to sign up to allow
breeders to run complimentary reports with its stallions.
At
Elite, one finds a number of well-know names. Beginning alphabetically, we star
with Danzig's grade I-winning son Brahms (TrueNicks,SRO),
the sire of eight stakes winners, including the multiple graded stakes-winning
Arson Squad. Buzzy's Gold (TrueNicks,SRO), a son of
Touch Gold, is a stakes winner and similarly-bred half-brother to Silver Deputy, the most
prolific stakes siring son of Deputy Minister. Six-time grade I winner Gentlemen (ARG) (TrueNicks,SRO was among the best of his generation,
capturing such contests as the Pacific Classic, Hollywood Gold Cup, and Pimlico Special (all gr. I).
Carson
City's speedy son [GoodAndTough]
is currently among the top three sires in Louisiana by 2008 earnings, and has
10 stakes winners to his name, including fleet graded scorer Maddalena. My Friend Max (TrueNicks,SRO), a son of Danzig from the
family of A.P. Indy, Lemon Drop Kid, and Summer Squall, is also a brother to the
very successful Outflanker (TrueNicks,SRO)
. From very limited opportunities, he has sired Louisiana
Premier Night stakes winners Brother Bean and My Friend Bele. Veteran Native Regent (TrueNicks,SRO) is a stakes-siring son of
Vice Regent.
Osidy (TrueNicks,SRO), hero of the Will Rogers Stakes (gr. III) and Blue Jay
Way Stakes, is the only graded stakes-winning son of Storm Cat in Louisiana.
He's out of the champion and group I winner Que Belle, and his first crop are
yearlings of 2009. Rahy's Secret (TrueNicks,SRO) is
a sprint stakes winner by Rahy (TrueNicks,SRO)
out of stakes-winning and graded-placed Secret
Advice. He has his first runners next year.
A
son of Gone West (TrueNicks,SRO), Rodeo narrowly missed
a six-furlong track record on his debut, and suffered a career-ending injury
when favorite for a grade I event second time out. He's sired four stakes
winners to date, including Louisiana sprint star Rodeo's Castle. [RogerThat] is a son of Unbridled and
the Astoria Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III) winner Unacceptable. Rossini (TrueNicks,SRO), whose first Louisiana-bred foals arrive next year, is a multiple group-winning 2-year-old
who was a champion in Ireland at 3. A close genetic relative to Elusive
Quality, the son of Miswaki has already sired five stakes winners, including
European group winners Tournedos and Golden Legacy.
The
Elite Thoroughbreds roster is rounded out by Royal Strand (IRE) (TrueNicks,SRO) and [WildcatShoes]. Royal
Strand, a son of Royal Academy from
an excellent European family, is a four-time stakes winner with earnings of
well over $700,000. Wildcat Shoes, who has first runners in 2009, is a
blisteringly fast son of Forest Wildcat, from a good Claiborne Farm family, who
was a stakes winner at 2 and 3, and who set a track record for five
furlongs at Churchill Downs (56.49) at 4.
