Taylor Made Stallions was one of the earliest supporters of
TrueNicks and we are honored to announce that complimentary TrueNicks for the farm's
eight stallions will once again be available to breeders in 2009.
Unbridled's Song (TrueNicks,SRO)
was the first stallion ever to stand at
the Taylor brothers Nicholasville, Ky., property, and he couldn't have
gotten the stallion division off to a better start. He was the sire of a seven-figure yearling in his first crop and has had at least one in every crop since.
He is now the sire of 11 career grade I winners, three of whom have appeared
since Labor Day weekend: Forego Handicap (gr. I ) winner First Defence (TrueNicks,SRO), Del Mar
Futurity (gr. I) winner Midshipman, and Thorn Song, winner of the Shadwell Turf
Mile (gr. I).
Forestry (TrueNicks,SRO)
joined the roster at Taylor Made for the 2000
breeding season and he too has had an admirable career to date. Winner of the King's
Bishop Stakes (gr. I), Forestry is the sire of 9% stakes winners from his first
five crops to race, including the sensational Discreet Cat (TrueNicks,SRO)
, winner of the Cigar
Mile (gr. I) and the ultra-fast Forest Danger (TrueNicks,SRO)
, winner of the Carter H. (gr. I).
Forest Danger stands across the shed row from his sire at
Taylor Made and his first yearlings were very well received in 2008. He ranked
among the top five North American first-crop sires with a yearling average of
nearly $100,000.
Northern Afleet (TrueNicks,SRO)
stood his first six seasons in Florida until
he came up with a "big horse" in Afleet Alex (TrueNicks,SRO)
. His first crop sired at Taylor
Made are juveniles of 2008 and, not coincidentally, he's in the midst of
perhaps his finest overall season with nine stakes winners.
Officer (TrueNicks,SRO)
is another who relocated to Taylor Made. He ranked
among the top five first-crop stallions in 2006, a crop that includes Johannesburg (TrueNicks,SRO)
and Street Cry (IRE) (TrueNicks,SRO)
. He has been among the
leaders of that strong group ever since.
The Halo grandson Southern Image (TrueNicks,SRO)
retired to Taylor Made
after winning three grade I's, including the Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I). Taylor
Made has already had considerable success with another Halo-line stallion, the
late champion sire Saint Ballado. Southern Image's first crop will hit the
races next year.
Master Command (TrueNicks,SRO)
and Half Ours (TrueNicks,SRO)
are the two newest stallions at
Taylor Made and are both about to enter their second seasons. A son of A.P. Indy (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Master Command
won four graded stakes in his racing days, including the Meadowlands Cup (gr.
II), and racked up over $1 million in earnings. Unbridled's Song's son Half Ours
was unbeaten at 2, with the WHAS-TV Stakes among his victories. He went on to
take the grade II Richter Scale Breeders' Cup Stakes at 4.
