Farm-sponsored TrueNicks reports are now available for five
new Thoroughbred stallions standing in Florida.
Graeme Hall (TrueNicks,SRO) stands at Eugene Melnyk's Winding Oaks Farm in Ocala and he's in the midst
of his finest year at stud. The third-crop son of Dehere (TrueNicks,SRO)
is the sire of seven
stakes winners in 2008, five of whom are juvenile stakes winners. That makes
him the co-leading sire of 2-year-old stakes winners in North America along with City Zip (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Dixie Union (TrueNicks,SRO)
, and Exchange Rate (TrueNicks,SRO)
.
Also in Florida, Brent
and Crystal Fernung have been busy this past fall filling up the stallion barn
at their Journeyman Stud in Ocala. Their four newest additions -- Cowtown Cat,
Gaff, Indy Wind, and Sweet Return -- are all now enrolled in TrueNicks for 2009.
Cowtown Cat (TrueNicks,SRO) will be the most accomplished son of Champion sire Distorted Humor (TrueNicks,SRO)
to stand
in the Sunshine State thus far. He was the $1.5 million sales topper at the
2006 Barretts March Sale and proved his worth on the track with wins in the grade
III Gotham Stakes and the grade II Illinois Derby. He's out of the Storm Cat
mare Tom's Cat.
Gaff (TrueNicks,SRO)
will also be the best son of the late Maria's Mon yet offered to Florida
breeders. A stakes winner and group-placed as a 2-year-old in Europe, Gaff
proved to be a versatile and highly successful runner on this side of the pond
as well. Among his North American stakes wins were the Mr. Prospector Handicap (gr.
III) on the dirt in track record time and the grade III Aegon Turf Sprint on
the Churchill Downs grass course.
A.P. Indy (TrueNicks,SRO) needs no introduction as a sire of sires and Journeyman has a promising
son of the two-time champion sire in Indy Wind (TrueNicks,SRO). Out of a Kingmambo (TrueNicks,SRO)
daughter of
champion Late Bloomer, Indy Wind won five stakes in his racing days including back-to-back
runnings of both the Alysheba Stakes and the Frisk Me Now Stakes.
Sweet Return (GB) (TrueNicks,SRO) will join the Journeyman roster after standing his first season at
Signature Stallions. The son of Diesis racked up over $1.8 million while earning a
pair of grade I's (the Hollywood Derby and the Eddie Read Handicap) among his seven
stakes victories.
Complimentary
TrueNicks are also available for the other Journeyman stallions Bwana Charlie (TrueNicks,SRO),
Cashel Castle (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Circular Quay (TrueNicks,SRO), Cowtown Cat (TrueNicks,SRO), Deputy Glitters (TrueNicks,SRO), Exclusive Quality (TrueNicks,SRO)
,
Mass Media (TrueNicks,SRO)
, Saint Anddan (TrueNicks,SRO)
, and Wildcat Heir (TrueNicks,SRO)
